After years of photographing the many talented performers in my life I discovered something by accident. While walking down the street I passed by Vinsantos. Out of the blue and by surprise.

The first thing I noticed was his obvious presence absent of any theatrics (costumes, makeup, a stage). This project was an attempt to show the work I’ve done with these artists in character and then stripped them down to reveal, through the simplicity of the black and white medium, the dynamic personalities behind the performer.

It was also a technical challenge to get back to my roots as a portrait photographer in a traditional sense. Myself performing outside technology to create a compelling and arresting image.
